Easy to Manage

The GSD’s unique geometry makes for super stable riding, no matter what you’re hauling (or how wiggly your kids are). The low center of gravity lets even smaller riders confidently manage heavy loads, and the step-thru frame makes getting on and off the bike a breeze. Plus, we’ve made it easier for the rider’s feet to reach the ground at stops.

Rock-Solid

Loading heavy cargo or kids on and off a bike can be tricky business, so we created the Atlas Lockstand. It’s an unbelievably strong and stable kickstand that automatically locks into place when engaged. When you’re ready to go, just press the Remote Unlock lever and roll forward.

Easy to Transport

We think the GSD will help you leave your car behind more often than not. Still, there are times when using a car and a GSD together is the best solution. The GSD packs down to one third of its volume in seconds. Stick a GSD (or two!) in the back of a minivan or small SUV, no heavy-duty rack required.

Small-Space Friendly

A regular bike takes up a lot of floor space and can be hard to store in a small living space (never mind getting it in and out of the elevator). We solved this problem by designing the GSD to park vertically, so it takes up about as much space as a potted plant—perfect for city apartments and elevators.

Stronger, Stiffer Frame

The GSD has always been super strong, but we’ve made it even beefier for a better ride. The added stiffness prevents side-to-side motion, even when heavily loaded.

Atlas Lockstand

Atlas Wheels

The GSD’s wheels may be small, but they’re strong enough to carry big. Custom-designed to withstand the 200 kg max gross vehicle weight of the GSD.

Combo Mount

Attach front racks and more using the robust Combo Mount. Since it’s located on the frame itself (and not the fork), you can load it up without sacrificing proper steering.

Dedicated Trailer Mount

Easy to use, very secure, and optimized to prevent trailer tilt. Compatible with Thule, Burley, and Weber trailers, no adapters needed.

Easy-Step Frame Design

Updated frame geometry makes the GSD comfier for riders of all sizes. A slacker seat tube angle and higher handlebars create a better-fitting cockpit and a more upright riding position. Plus, it’s now easier for riders’ feet to reach the ground at stops.

We built a special suspension fork to add comfort and control while safely handling the GSD’s massive 200 kg MGVW.

Suspension Seatpost

Cane Creek Thudbuster suspension seatpost for an extra-cushy ride. Tool-free elastomer adjustment makes it easy for riders of different sizes to share the bike. Equipped on GSDs with the LX package.

Andros Stem

The unique Andros Stem lets you change the height and angle of the handlebars in seconds and without tools, creating a comfy riding position whether you’re tall or small.

RearStop Brake Light

Let drivers know to give you space when you’re stopping or slowing down. Always on, day or night, with enhanced side visibility.

Ignis Headlight

Riding home after dark or in bad weather? No worries. The 700-lumen front light provides extra visibility with a brighter light and a wider beam. A one-touch high/low beam puts even more light at your fingertips. Equipped on GSDs with the LX package.

Full Chainguard

The chainguard helps you stay tidy (no pant-rolling required) and prevents long skirts and loose pants from getting caught in the chain or belt.

Integrated Wheel Guard

A full-coverage rear wheel guard protects the rider and passengers from splashes of muddy water and prevents clothes and shoelaces from being caught in the wheel.

Rohloff Speedhub

A super-premium internally geared hub with lighting-fast electronic shifting. Offers a massive 526% gear range and shift-sensing technology for smooth transitions. Automatically downshifts as you come to a standstill—perfect for stop-and-go traffic. Equipped on the GSD R14.

Gates CDX Belt Drive

Smooth, silent, clean, durable, and maintenance-free—so you can spend more time riding and less time cleaning and lubing your bike chain. Equipped on the GSD S00 and R14.

Magura MT-5 4-Piston Disc Brakes

A bike that can carry this much calls for some serious stopping ability, and these brakes deliver. They can quickly bring a fully loaded GSD to a strong, confident stop.

All Day Battery

Equipped with Bosch dual-battery technology, the GSD is wired from the get-go to accommodate two batteries—meaning you can get a second battery when you’re really sure you need it, without having to worry about rewiring your bike. Just plug it in and you’re good to go.

Cargo Hold™ 52 Panniers

The Cargo Hold 52 Panniers are like an extra-roomy trunk for the GSD. With a volume of more than 100 liters per pair, they’re spacious enough for weekly shopping runs, camping adventures, or hauling all your kids’ bags, instruments, and sporting equipment (while your kids are on board, of course). Use in Roll-Top Mode for weather protection, or quickly switch to Bucket Mode for stashing oversized cargo. Two Fidlock® buckles make opening and closing a snap.

Clubhouse+™

Transform your GSD into a minivan with the Clubhouse+. Use it with the included seatpad and backrest to create a comfy and protected space for two kids. Swap out the seatpad for a 600 mm x 400 Eurocrate and it becomes a heavy-duty grocery hauler. The Child Seat Expansion Bar supports up to two child seats for younger kids, allowing you to mix and match seating configurations as your kids grow from toddlers to 10-year-olds. It’s more fun than a car seat any day.

Sidekick™ Wide Decks

The Sidekick Wide Decks extend the GSD’s integrated lower decks widthwise to 12 cm. They provide passengers with more comfy foot space, and riders with extra peace-of-mind when carrying kids. Designed to support up to 35 kg each, the Sidekick Wide Decks are a great place to stash a toolbox or cooler. If you’re hauling serious cargo, you’ll want to keep the weight low to the ground for better handling and stability—and the Sidekick Wide Decks are ready for action.

• Supports up to 35 kg per deck (70 kg total)

Transporteur™ Rack

The Transporteur Rack is a modular cargo carrier. Accessorize it with a 300 × 400 mm Eurocrate, a standard crate of 20 beers, or a recycled wooden box. It carries up to 20 kg, so even when you’re carting two kids on the back, you can bring a picnic too. With two convenient bottle mounts, you can load it out with water for a long tour, or a handy bike lock for commuting in the city.

Shortbed™ Tray

The Shortbed Tray is a heavy-duty cargo upgrade for the GSD that carries serious loads low to the ground. It fits standard 600 × 400 mm Eurocrates, so you can carry up to 80 liters of provisions. Pack it with a cooler and save the day at soccer practice, or leave it in its original configuration for IKEA runs. Depending on your cargo preference, mount it parallel or perpendicular. Offers easy access for swapping and removing one or two batteries.

Hauler™ Rack

The Hauler Rack is the Goldilocks of our front racks: Big enough to carry a whole lot of cargo but small enough to let you maneuver the bike with ease, it is just the right size for the Tern GSD and HSD. With an open-ended design and a handy bungee cord, the Hauler Rack is ready to carry backpacks, boxes, and other bulky items. And with mounting holes on the base, you can easily bolt a crate to the rack for a semi-permanent solution to carry groceries or smaller items.

The GSD lets you bring up to two older kids* or adult passenger along for the ride. The Sidekick Seat Pad lets that passenger ride in comfort. With a KLICKfix rack mount, the Sidekick Seat Pad clips on and off in seconds. Pair it with the rest of the Sidekick kit for extra comfort and convenience.

Cargo Hold™ 37 Panniers

The Cargo Hold 37 Panniers turn the HSD into a super-handy ride. They’re your car trunk for carrying groceries, a backpack for running errands or commuting, or a diaper bag for bringing toys and baby essentials. Fold the pannier sides in for a completely hassle-free Bucket Mode, which is also compatible with a Yepp seat if you want to carry your little one AND the groceries. On the GSD, the Cargo Hold 37 fits nicely behind an adult passenger’s legs,* or behind a single Yepp seat.
